Susan gained over 30 years’ experience in the costs industry before joining the clinical negligence team at Masters in 2019. She became an Associate Member of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen in 1994 and a Fellow of the Association in 1998.
Susan acted in the Human Growth Hormone Related CJD Group litigation. This was the first product liability action which went to trial in the UK. Susan advised the Professional Steering Committee in what was then a highly novel area of cost law and involved the first legal aid contract ever granted by the Law Society.
Susan is very skilled at preparing detailed Bills of Costs in all areas of civil litigation, although she now focuses on high value clinical negligence claims. Susan is very experienced in justifying and opposing Bills of Costs and her extensive knowledge allows her to advise on complex costs issues. Susan handles all aspects of the costs process, including dealing with negotiations, attending Detailed Assessments and preparing costs pleadings such as Points of Dispute/Points of Reply, Schedules, Statements of Costs, Breakdowns and Costs Budgets.
